Working at Chairo

Jo, Pakenham Teacher Librarian

‘I enjoy working at Chairo because of the students. I’m challenged daily to set a godly example for them and to reflect about how and why I teach … and to always give my absolute best. I love working alongside committed and dedicated staff members who inspire me every day.’

Jo began working at Chairo in 1997 as a teacher’s assistant. Encouraged by the Principal to study education, Jo became a Chairo primary teacher in 2004 and taught at the Drouin and Drouin East campuses. Today, Jo works in the library at Pakenham and is ‘the most happily contented teacher librarian on the planet’.

Jo explained, ‘I’m passionate about exciting students about books and literature. I also oversee the running of the library; work with teachers on curriculum; order, shelve and critique books; supervise private study and distance education students; make displays; run competitions and oversee Book Week. I’m also studying to complete a Master’s degree’
